All Star Shave

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

You know what’s a pain for every guy (sometimes literally)? Shaving first thing in the morning. Nothing like running cold steel blades across your face when you’re barely awake and can hardly see yourself in the fogged-up bathroom mirror. It’s a wonder we don’t all have self-inflicted nose jobs!

That’s why it’s good to be a celebrity (besides all the fame and fortune, I mean). When they need a shave, they get it done in style – by the kind of personnel every man definitely wants to have in his face.

Take Sting, for example. A good example, since the vast majority of us males screech “Roxanne” while we’re shaving. (Not to mention that Nick saw the first Police comeback performance at the GRAMMY® awards in 2007 and Chris flew to see them on their closest stop to Orlando, which was Atlanta. Yeah, we’re fans.) When Sting did the reunion tour with The Police earlier this year, he grew a long grey beard and was starting to look like some kind of lost Nordic explorer.

So he did all his fans – and his face – a big favor at The Police’s final concert at Madison Square Garden – and turned the stage into his own barbershop, as he got shaved onstage by a couple of beauts who knew how to take care of business – even if we’re not too sure they actually had a barber license between them.

Then there was talk show legend David Letterman. When the writer’s strike sidelined his show for months, he grew himself his own Mountain Man beard. When he came back on the air, it was once again “Big, Rich Star” gets hot chick to shave him in public.

Obviously, there’s something special about getting someone else to do your shaving for you that’s pretty cool, or guys like that wouldn’t make such a big deal out of it. It goes back to the old barbershop experience that’s almost completely vanished – where a guy got to lie back in the barber chair, get the professional straight razor shave that’s as close as possible and walk away looking good – and feeling better.

That’s the feel we’re trying to recreate at our brand new line of Kennedy’s All-American Barber Clubs – the best of the old-time barbershop experience, but with all the modern amenities, such as modern grooming products and beverages. We wanted to start a franchise where guys could go and feel good about getting their hair cut again – not have to sit in a discount, unisex salon waiting for their turn. And we think we’ve succeeded.

You can check out our locations and franchise opportunities at www.kennedysbarberclub.com. You might not find Sting or David Letterman in our barbershops – but you’ll find local celebrities and other discerning gentlemen among a professional friendly bunch of making your shave and haircut a downright pleasurable experience.
